Opeyemi Akindiose

Yemi joined PKF Lawyers in 2022, bringing with him a rich background as a foreign-trained lawyer from Nigeria. His legal journey in Nigeria was diverse, focusing on Criminal Litigation, Civil Litigation, Family Law, Intellectual Property Law, Mediation & Negotiation, and Trade Law. Yemi has significant courtroom experience, having appeared before the Federal High Courts and the Industrial Court, and making numerous appearances at the Court of Appeal.

Yemi’s client-centric approach to the practise of law and his international experience have provided him with both the skillsets, knowledge, and experience to get results for his clients. His flexibility, keen understanding of his client’s goals and bottom line, and his collaborative approach to the practice of law has helped him numerous times to achieve desirable outcome for his clients. 

Yemi’s dedication to the legal profession shone through his role as Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum in Nigeria, a forum dedicated to nurturing the growth of young lawyers. As a young lawyer, Yemi participated and was significantly involved in numerous state election tribunals between 2015 and 2018. 

Yemi is committed to helping and protecting the rights of those in need. He has successfully campaigned to establish more legal aid offices in rural areas in Nigeria, particularly in the Tsare/Tsarigi communities, in order to provide crucial legal representation and to educate indigents on their rights. Yemi also served in a consultancy role to the Senate Committee in Nigeria on Science and Technology. In this role, he worked with 16 other lawyers and industry stakeholders to review a bill aimed at amending the Copyright Act. The objective was to enhance protection for rights holders and streamline the copyright registration process through the implementation of a centralized database. He has been a mediator in community disputes, particularly in Kwara State during a border crisis, and played a pivotal role in representing Civil Servants in Ondo State during a government-imposed strike action, negotiating a fair resolution.

Protecting the environment is also important to Yemi, as highlighted by his involvement in a 21-person committee assessing the Environmental Impact of the Delta/Bayelsa oil spillage in 2016, directly reporting to the Federal Ministry of Environment. In 2021, the recommendations of his committee were included in the Federal Gazette. 

Yemi has been and is still an active member of the Ondo Branch and a member in good standing in the Nigerian Bar Association. In 2014, Yemi received his Bachelor of Law from the Adekunle Ajasin University, and on June 3, 2024, he commenced his Articles at PKF Lawyers. 

Outside of work, Yemi is passionate about learning new things and values spending quality time with his family.
