This was the inaugural event for the FCLN in Manitoba, in honour of Filipino Heritage Month. Attendees were 28 practising lawyers, 5 articling students, 5 NCA students, 3 law students, 7 post-secondary students, and 16 high school students – all Filipino or of descent and are in law or have an interest in law.
PKF was a sponsor, and our very own Gary Sarcida was on the panel and helped organize the event. Topic of discussion for the panel was: How do I build a successful practice?
We had video messages from the Lt. Governor of MB, Senator Osler, and Justice Coroza of the Court of Appeal of Ontario (first Filipino-Canadian appointed judge). In attendance were the Minister of Justice of MB (Matt Wiebe), Chief Justice of the Court of Kings Bench Glenn Joyal, Presidents of the Law Society of MB and the Manitoba Bar Association, and President of the FCLN, Atty. Felica Natividad from Ontario.
