Elaine Chan

Elaine Chan joined PKF Lawyers as an Articling Student-at-law in October 2013 and was called to the Bar in June 2014.

Elaine was born and raised in Hong Kong and she immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada with her family in June 2012. Elaine obtained her Bachelor of Laws and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong in 2001 and 2002 respectively.  She was qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2004 and was practising in Hong Kong until 2012.

In 2007, Elaine further obtained a Master of (PRC) Laws from Renmin University of People’s Republic of China. Elaine is fluently tri-lingual in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

During her practicing years in Hong Kong, Elaine specialized in personal injury claims, workers’ compensation applications and insurance litigation. On top of her experience in private practice, Elaine had also worked as an in-house insurance claim manager in Allianz (Hong Kong) Limited, a Hong Kong subsidiary of Allianz SE, one of the multinational financial services institutions offering insurance as a focus.

Elaine completed her Canadian law degree equivalency and received her Certificate of Accreditation in May 2013 from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Elaine is now developing her practice with a focus on Commercial/Corporate Law, Commercial and Residential Real Estate, Immigration and Wills and Estates.

Elaine strongly believes in giving back to her community and volunteers her services to the local Chinese community. Elaine is now serving as a Director to the Hong Kong – Canada Business Association, Winnipeg Section. She is also appointed as the Legal Advisor to The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Manitoba. Elaine was also privileged to be invited to deliver seminars and lectures in her field to many other community groups organized by the local remarkable financial institutions and associations.

Elaine has a passion of travelling and when work schedules do not allow time for travel, Elaine enjoys spending her quality time with family and friends.
