Gary Michael Sarcida
B.A., LL.B.
Gary has been with PKF Lawyers since 2004. His practice is general in nature with an emphasis on personal and transactional legal services. He has also appeared at all levels of court and administrative tribunals advocating for clients.
As a member of Manitoba’s Filipino Canadian community, Gary adds a valuable language and cultural ingredient to PKF Lawyers. He can fluently communicate in the official Filipino language of Tagalog. He is involved with and represents numerous Filipino Canadian organizations and associations.
Currently, Gary sits as an adjudicator of the Manitoba Human Rights Adjudication Panel (MHRAP), appointed by the Province of Manitoba in 2019.
Additionally, he served on the Board of Governors of the Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG), from 2018 to 2023.
He has also served on the Board of Directors for Folklorama and the Folk Arts Council of Winnipeg Inc. from 2006 to 2012. During his tenure he served as Chair of the Member Relations and Review Committees.
A man of incredible drive, he lives by these words from Vince Lombardi, “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but a lack of will.”
Away from the practice of law, he spends time with his wife, family, and their rescue dogs. A sports fanatic, you can also find him cheering on the Winnipeg Jets, Miami Dolphins, Go Blue! and his beloved LA Lakers (as he bleeds purple and gold).
Si Gary Sarcida ay naging kabilang sa PKF LAWYERS bilang articling student noong 2004 at siya ay tinawag sa Bar noong June 2005. Mula noon siya ay nanatiling associate ng PKF LAWYERS magpa-hanggang ngayon. Si Gary ay may karanasan na sa lahat ng antas (level ) ng korte – Sa Manitoba Court of Appeal, Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench ( Civil at Family Divisions ); Sa Provincial Court ng Manitoba; Federal Court ng Canada at sa Small Claims Court. Siya ay humarap na din sa ilang administrative tribunals – tulad ng Automobile Inquiry Appeal Commission; sa Residential Tenancies Appeal Commission; sa Opisina ng Commissioner ng Review Tribunal-Pension Appeals; sa Immigration at Refugee Board ng Canada at sa License Appeal Board.
Bilang bahagi ng komunidad ng mga Pilipino sa Winnipeg, ang kakayahan ni Gary na makapagpahayag sa Tagalog at Ingles ay isang mahalagang ambag sa PKF Lawyers. Si Gary ay tumutulong din sa Philippine Association of Manitoba Inc., sa Southeastman Filipino Association ng Manitoba Inc. at sa Manitoba Filipino Business Council Inc.
Naglingkod din si Gary bilang isa sa Board of Directors ng Folklorama at ng Folk Arts Council ng Winnipeg Inc. mula 2006 hanggang 2012. Sa kanyang panunungkulan, gumanap siya sa kapasidad na Kagawad ng Member Relations at Review Committees.
Siya ay kasalukuyang isang Tagapaghatol ng Manitoba Human Rights Adjudication Panel (MHRAP) na itinalaga ng lalawigan ng Manitoba nitong Hunyo lamang sang-ayon sa mga Alituntunin ng Karapatang Pangtao.
Siya ay puno ng kasigasigan at ang gumagabay na kasabihan kay Gary ay nagmula sa mga wika ni Vince Lombardi, “Na ang pagkaka-iba ng isang taong matagumpay sa iba ay hind sa kawalan ng lakas at talino sa halip ay sa kalawan ng parpupursige o determinasyon.”
Labas sa kanyang propesyon bilang abogado, matatagpuan niyo si Gary sa golf course o ‘di kaya ay nanonood ng laban ng Lakers bilang isang tapat na tagahanga.
